Latvia Day Eight: Knee Deep in the Baltic Sea

It was an extremely hot day in Riga; I think everyone in our group is looking forward to cooler weather here tomorrow and dreading the muggy Tennessee weather awaiting us at home.

We said bittersweet goodbyes with Raēle after breakfast this morning; she has been a treasure to have with us on the trip and I will miss her and our other friends here dearly.

We spent more time at the conference during the afternoon, where we studied, listened, and sang.

In the evening, our entire group rode a bus to the beach and spent some time wading in The Gulf of Riga, which connects to the Baltic Sea.

The water was much warmer than we expected, and our three kids were soaked and sandy by the time we left to return to the city.  We had a gorgeous view out over the sea, and I think we all appreciated a few quiet moments away from the city.
